The sudden slam of the front door echoed through the high ceilings of the foyer. Eleanor’s smug smile instantly dissolved into absolute terror as she spun around to see her husband standing in the doorway, his face pale with fury. She dropped the crackers she was holding, their crumbs scattering across the freshly mopped marble floor.

"Richard!" Eleanor gasped, her voice trembling as she tried to regain her composure. "What are you doing back? I thought your meeting went late!"

Richard ignored her completely. He walked straight past his wife, kneeling down on the wet floor to wrap his arms around his sobbing daughter. Lily clung to his neck, her small body shaking violently. "It's okay, sweetheart. Daddy's here. You're safe now," he whispered, kissing her forehead.

Eleanor quickly tried to adjust her mask of the loving, concerned stepmother. She stepped forward, her voice suddenly sweet and reasonable.

"Richard, honey, it’s not what it looks like. Lily spilled her juice and was refusing to clean it up. I was just trying to teach her some basic responsibility. You know how stubborn she can be."

Richard slowly stood up, keeping Lily behind him. He pulled out his phone and turned the screen toward Eleanor. The video was still playing, capturing her cold sneer and her vicious words in perfect clarity. Eleanor stared at the screen, her face draining of all color. Realizing she was caught, the sweet demeanor vanished, replaced by a venomous glare.

"You spied on me?" she hissed, stepping closer. "This is my house too! You think you can use this against me? Remember the prenuptial agreement, Richard. If you try to divorce me, my family's lawyers will drag you through the mud. I'll make sure you lose this house, your assets, and most importantly, I will fight for full custody of Lily. I have the power to ruin you."

Richard felt a chill. The prenup was ironclad, and Eleanor's family possessed immense wealth and influence. But as she smirked, believing she had won, Richard remembered a dark secret from Eleanor's past—one she had spent a fortune trying to erase.
