The Touch of a Miracle

The afternoon sun cast a warm, golden glow over the paved stone pathways of the grand estate. Diana sat quietly in her wheelchair, her silver brocade gown shimmering in the light. Beside her, her faithful Spaniel snoozed peacefully, oblivious to the shadow stretching across the lawn. For ten long years, Diana had been confined to this chair, her legs lifeless after a tragic accident that had claimed her family's fortune and her beloved younger brother. She had accepted her quiet, isolated existence, managed only by her loyal maid, Harper.

Suddenly, the silence was shattered. A disheveled young man stumbled onto the path. His face was smudged with grime, his white shirt torn and filthy. Before Harper could react, the stranger lunged forward, reaching desperately for Diana’s feet. Terrified, Diana pulled back, her voice trembling with a mixture of fear and disgust.

"Don't touch me!"
she gasped, her heart hammering against her ribs.

Harper rushed forward, her black maid's uniform rustling as she grabbed the man's shoulder.

"Get away from her! Security!"
Harper yelled, trying to drag him backward. But there was something in the young man's eyes—a profound, sorrowful intensity—that made Diana freeze. Raising her hand, she commanded,
"Leave him alone, Harper. Let's see what he wants."

The young man sank to his knees, placing his hands gently onto the wheelchair's cold metal footrest. Slowly, an unbelievable golden light began to emanate from his palms, wrapping around Diana's feet. Harper watched in stunned disbelief, clutching her apron as the warmth surged upward. Diana gasped, feeling a sensation she hadn't felt in a decade: the prickle of life returning to her legs. Tearful and shocked, she stared down, then looked into the stranger's eyes.

"How?"
she whispered. The young man smiled softly and replied,
"Soon you will remember me."
