Previously: When my stepmother Tiffany tried to drown my baby sister, our governess Nora jumped into the pool to save her. But the nanny-cam revealed the truth — and my father's shocking decision changed everything.

The Screen Showed Tiffany Lifting the Brake Pedals with Her Toe — and My Father Saw It All

The iPad mini shook in my hands as the nanny-cam footage played. There was no denying it. No hiding from it. The 4K screen showed Tiffany in perfect clarity, lifting both rear locking pedals with her toe, then giving the backrest a sharp shove toward the pool.

Her recorded voice crackled through the speaker: "Nobody is watching the deck; one push and I'm finally rid of both the kid and the governess."

The words hung in the salt air like poison. My father's face went from dark to stone-cold white. He didn't move. He didn't blink. He just stared at the screen, processing the betrayal of the woman he'd married just eight months ago.

Tiffany's lips trembled. "Victor, that's not what it looks like—"

"Not what it looks like?" My father's voice was a low, dangerous rumble. "You tried to drown my child. And you tried to blame the woman who saved her."

"I didn't—" Tiffany started, but her voice cracked. "I was just... I was testing Nora. To see if she was paying attention."

"You were testing her?" I shouted, my voice cracking with rage. "You pushed the stroller into the pool! You wanted Chloe to die!"

Tiffany's eyes darted around the deck, looking for an escape. The two security guards by the archway stepped forward, their hands hovering over their belts.

"Victor, please," Tiffany begged, tears streaming down her face. "I love you. I love Chloe. I would never—"

"You would," my father said, his voice flat. "You've been planning this for weeks. I know about the insurance policy you took out on Chloe's life. I know about the emails you sent to your sister, bragging about how you'd 'handle' the baby."

Tiffany's face went pale. "You... you knew?"

"I suspected," my father said, his eyes narrowing. "That's why I installed the nanny-cam on the surfboard rack. I wanted to catch you in the act."

I felt my stomach drop. My father had known all along? He'd been waiting for Tiffany to make a move?

"You used me as bait," I said, my voice barely a whisper. "You used Chloe as bait."

My father's expression softened for a moment. "No, Lucas. I used the nanny-cam as bait. I never thought she'd actually try to hurt Chloe. I thought she'd just... slip up. Say something incriminating. I didn't expect her to be this evil."

Nora, still standing in the pool with Chloe in her arms, let out a shuddering breath. "I didn't know," she said. "I didn't know about the camera. I just heard the wheels and I... I acted."

"And that's why you're a hero," my father said, turning to her with something like warmth in his eyes. "You didn't think. You just saved my daughter."

Tiffany let out a bitter laugh. "Your daughter? Victor, you're such a fool. Chloe isn't even yours."

The words hit the deck like a thunderclap. My father staggered back as if he'd been punched. "What?"

"You heard me," Tiffany spat, her tears turning to venom. "She's the gardener's brat. I had an affair the first year we were married. I thought you'd never find out. But then you got so obsessed with 'protecting your legacy' that I couldn't stand it anymore. I wanted you to suffer. I wanted you to lose her."

My father's face contorted with rage. "Security! Grab her!"

"You tried to drown my child on camera," he roared, pointing at Tiffany as the guards clamped steel handcuffs onto her wrists. "Get her off my beach house deck in cuffs!"

Tiffany was dragged away, screaming, her leopard-print blouse tearing at the sleeve. But her words lingered in the air like a curse.

Chloe wasn't my father's daughter. She was a gardener's child. And my father had just lost everything.

But then he turned to Nora, and his voice softened. "You knew, didn't you?"

Nora nodded, her eyes full of tears. "I've known since she was born. I was the one who took her to the hospital. I saw the DNA test results on Tiffany's desk."

"Why didn't you tell me?" my father asked.

"Because I knew you'd blame the baby," Nora whispered. "And Chloe didn't deserve that. She's innocent."

My father looked at Chloe, who was now asleep in Nora's arms, her little chest rising and falling with each breath. And then he looked at me.

"Lucas," he said, "there's something you need to know about your real mother."
