Previously: A brilliant astrophysicist's career is on the brink of ruin until a humble janitor steps in, revealing a hidden genius that saves a critical deep-space mission and shatters the scientist's arrogance.

An Unexpected Intervention

The tension in the room reached a breaking point. Jason, his face contorted with fury and desperation, slammed his open palm against the metal frame of the whiteboard. The sound, a sharp, reverberating crack, echoed in the sterile space, sending the dry-erase marker skittering across the reflective floor. His neck veins bulged as he wheeled around, his arrogance radiating like a toxic heat.

"Stop staring, janitor, scrub the floor and get the hell out before I have security throw you onto the street!"

His voice dripped with venomous condescension, a man accustomed to commanding, not conversing. He expected the janitor to cower, to retreat into the shadows. But Samuel didn’t flinch. He absorbed the outburst with a stillness that was almost unnerving, a ghost of an amused smirk playing on his weathered lips. His calloused hands smoothly leaned the mop against the chrome fixture, a silent gesture of control.

Instead of retreating, Samuel moved. He approached with a deliberate, effortless poise, his steps quiet on the linoleum. With fluid speed, he scooped the rolling marker from the floor. Then, he stepped squarely between Jason and the complex calculations that were about to doom the mission. With a crisp, tactile click, he popped the marker cap off.

"Your telemetry is hemorrhaging angular velocity because you forgot to account for spin-orbit quantum gravity resonance."

His voice, calm and gravelly, cut through Jason’s panicked tirade like a laser. Jason froze, his mouth falling open. The arrogant sneer that had been plastered on his face moments before now seemed frozen, replaced by a look of stunned disbelief. His pupils dilated, his chest heaving as the weight of Samuel’s words began to sink in. Humiliation washed over him, cold and absolute. The calculations, the ones he had spent years perfecting, the ones that were supposed to unlock the secrets of the universe, were flawed. And the correction came not from a colleague, but from a janitor.
