Chaos erupted in the viewing room. While mourners screamed and fled, Laura frantically pried open the broken lid, lifting the fragile, shivering body of Clara out of the satin-lined coffin. Clara was weak, her skin ice-cold, but her eyes were wide with terror as she clung to Laura.

"He did this to me,"

Clara whispered, her voice barely audible, pointing a trembling finger at her husband.

James tried to regain his composure, stepping forward with hands raised.

"This is some kind of sick medical anomaly!"

he stammered, looking at the remaining family members.

"My wife was declared dead by a certified physician! Laura, you are delusional. Give her to me, we need to get her to a private clinic immediately!"

But Laura stood as a shield between Clara and the man who claimed to love her. As Clara's private nurse, Laura had cared for her during a sudden, mysterious illness. She remembered how James had insisted on administering Clara’s nightly medication himself, and how quickly he had called his personal family doctor, Dr. Evans, to declare her dead when she stopped moving. Laura had protested, pointing out that Clara’s body felt unusually warm, but James had quickly escorted her off the property.

"You didn't want a hospital, James,"

Laura shouted, her eyes blazing with fury.

"You wanted her buried immediately. You paid Dr. Evans to sign that certificate, didn't you? You knew she was still alive!"

James's eyes darted toward the exit. He knew his scheme was unraveling. The inheritance of Clara's multi-million-dollar estate was supposed to be his by the end of the week, but now his supposedly deceased wife was staring back at him, breathing and conscious.
