An Orphaned Teen Steps Into A Rodeo Ring To Face A Deadly Bull
Previously: When eighteen-year-old Leo jumped into the rodeo ring with a deadly black bull, the crowd screamed. But Leo wasn't looking for trouble—he was looking for his father's final hope.
The Legacy of the Lost Ranch
Before the bull could react further, the heavy metal gates swung open. Several rodeo hands rushed into the ring, waving lassos and shouting to distract the beast. Among them was Marcus Vance, the wealthy and ruthless owner of the rodeo circuit. "Get that kid out of my arena!" Vance roared, his face purple with rage. "And get that killer animal back into the pen!"
Ranger snorted, startled by the sudden commotion, and took a defensive step back. Two security guards grabbed Leo by the arms, dragging him out of the dirt as the crowd buzzed with confusion and anger. Leo struggled against their grip, his eyes never leaving the bull. "He's not a killer!" Leo screamed. "You know he isn't, Vance! You stole him from my father!"
Once behind the safety of the metal chutes, Vance confronted the bruised and dusty teenager. "Listen to me, boy," Vance hissed, keeping his voice low so the reporters nearby couldn't hear. "Your father lost his ranch, and he sold me this bull to pay his debts. He's my property now, and he's going to the slaughterhouse next week. He's too wild to ride, and he's worth more as meat than a liability."
Leo's heart shattered. He remembered his father's final days in the hospital, gasping for breath, clutching Leo's hand.
"Ranger was never meant to be ridden, Leo," his father had whispered. "He's a gentle soul if you show him the bandana. I had to let him go to keep a roof over your head, but promise me you'll save him."
Leo looked at Vance, his eyes burning with determination. "My father didn't sell him to be slaughtered. You cheated him when he was too sick to read the contract. I have the original deed right here in my bag, and it says Ranger can never be sold for meat. If you try to destroy him, I will expose your corruption to every rodeo in the state!"
