Previously: When the empire's strongest warrior failed to draw the legendary blade, a ragged outcast stepped forward to claim his destiny, uncovering a truth that would shatter a kingdom.

The True King Rises

Arthur looked at the men who had raised him in the shadows, realizing that his survival depended on the power now humming in his hand. As Borin lunged forward with a brutal downward strike, Arthur didn't flinch. He raised the mythical sword, and the moment the blades clashed, a blinding shockwave of golden energy erupted from the ancient steel. The force of the blast sent Borin flying backward, his heavy armor clattering against the canyon wall, while the spears of the surrounding guards shattered into splinters.

Lord Thomas watched in absolute terror as the ancient magic of the sword recognized its true master, wrapping Arthur in a protective, luminous aura. The warriors, realizing they were fighting against the very heavens, dropped to their knees one by one, bowing their heads in reverence.

"The prophecy is fulfilled,"
the eldest captain declared, his voice trembling.
"Hail the true king!"
Thomas tried to flee, but his own men quickly disarmed him, holding him captive alongside his weeping son.

Arthur stood tall, the dirty, worn-out tunic now looking like a royal robe under the brilliant light of the blade. He looked down at the man who had lied to him for fifteen years.

"You tried to bury the truth in the dirt,"
Arthur said, his voice echoing with authority.
"But the light always finds its way to the surface. You and Borin will face the justice of the kingdom you tried to steal."
With a wave of his hand, the guards led the conspirators away in chains.

As the sun finally broke through the cloudy sky, illuminating the damp canyon, Arthur realized his life as a servant was over. He had lost the only family he knew, but he had found his true destiny. Sometimes, the very people who try to keep you in the dark are only hiding the flame they know you are meant to carry.
