The heavy doors of the lead SUV swung open, and out stepped Arthur Vance. To Richard, Arthur had always just been a quiet, unassuming older man who kept to his study. But today, Arthur looked like a force of nature. Dressed in a tailored charcoal suit, his eyes were cold as ice. From the second vehicle, three men in identical dark suits stepped out, carrying thick leather briefcases. These were not just bodyguards; they were some of the most expensive corporate attorneys in the state.

Richard tried to maintain his arrogant posture, stepping down the stairs with Sarah clinging tightly to his arm. "Arthur," Richard said, trying to sound authoritative. "What is the meaning of this? This is private property. You can't just barge in here with your security detail. Olivia is trespassing, and so are you."

Arthur didn't even look at Richard. He walked straight to Olivia, gently wiping a tear from her cheek and wrapping his arm around her. "Are you okay, sweetheart?" he asked softly. Olivia nodded, feeling a wave of safety wash over her for the first time in months. Arthur then turned his gaze to Richard, and the warmth in his face instantly vanished.

"Private property, Richard?" Arthur said, his voice echoing across the courtyard. "I'm glad you brought that up. Because we need to discuss exactly whose property this is."

One of the lawyers stepped forward, opening a briefcase and pulling out a stack of notarized documents. Richard frowned, a seed of panic finally planting itself in his chest. "What is that?" he demanded.

"This," the lead attorney announced, "is the deed of trust for this estate. While you bought this house during your marriage, Richard, you did so using a shell corporation funded entirely by Vance Enterprises. Your signatures on the loan agreements explicitly state that in the event of a divorce, the property reverts entirely to the primary investor. That investor is Arthur Vance."
