Previously: A chance encounter in a Parisian restaurant ignites a bitter feud between a wealthy heir and a seemingly ordinary man. But appearances can be deceiving, and this man has a secret that will bring down an empire.

The Unveiling of Power

Suddenly, a deep rumble vibrated through the floor, growing into a deafening roar of supercharged engines. Blinding red and blue strobe lights pierced the rain-streaked windows, painting the gilded mirrors and velvet draperies in harsh, hyper-saturated hues. Crystal glasses rattled precariously on their saucers. Outside, four matte-black armored Suburbans screeched to a halt. The heavy mahogany doors burst open, and six figures in tactical gear, armed and purposeful, secured the room. The festive ambiance shattered, replaced by an palpable tension.

"Clear the dining hall immediately! Director Vance, the White House situation room has patched through an emergency encrypted satellite uplink for your authorization!"

Armand’s eyes widened, his face draining of all color. His mocking sneer had vanished, replaced by a look of paralyzed shock. He was no longer the center of attention; he was an irrelevant detail in a much larger, more dangerous game. Tommy, however, remained calm. An agent, eyes fixed on Tommy with absolute deference, snapped to attention.

"Your executive motorcade is idling, Director of National Intelligence Vance—the Joint Chiefs await your briefing."

Tommy smoothly removed his damp trench coat, handing it to a waiting agent. The pins on his lapel glinted under the emergency lights – four stars, signifying a level of authority Armand couldn’t comprehend. The hundred euros Armand had thrown now seemed like a pathetic, laughable gesture. Tommy leaned in, his voice a low, chilling whisper directed at the trembling Armand.

"Keep the hundred euros, Armand. As of thirty seconds ago, your family's offshore bank accounts were seized under federal espionage sanctions."

Armand’s breath hitched audibly. His legs, which had buckled under Tommy’s hold, now threatened to give out completely. His trembling fingers lost their grip on the cognac snifter, and it plummeted to the floor, shattering into a thousand pieces, the sound swallowed by the overwhelming presence of power that had just descended upon the room. The insult had been returned with a force far exceeding anything Armand could have ever imagined.
