Previously: When an arrogant wealthy heir mocks a simple waitress and challenges her to a dance for fifty thousand dollars, he has no idea she holds the keys to his entire future.

A Crown Reclaimed

The crowd parted as Julian Vance, the billionaire owner of the estate and the host of the entire gala, walked onto the stage. He held a microphone, his stern gaze locked directly onto Alex.

"Actually, Sarah, she is far from a nobody,"

Julian announced, his voice echoing with immense authority.

"I would like to introduce all of you to my daughter, Chloe Vance."

A collective gasp rippled through the ballroom. Alex stumbled backward, his face draining of all color. I stood tall, a cold smile playing on my lips. I had spent the last six months working anonymously at my father's hotels and estates to learn the business from the ground up. I wanted to see the true colors of the people who frequented our circles, and tonight, Alex had shown me exactly who he was.

My father walked down from the stage and stood by my side, placing a supportive hand on my shoulder. "My daughter wanted to understand our empire from the bottom up," Julian said to the crowd. "And it seems she also exposed a parasite in the process."

Alex desperately tried to scramble for words.

"Chloe, I—I didn't know! It was just a joke! I love you, I swear!"

he stammered, reaching out for my hand. I stepped back, looking at him with utter disgust.

"Keep your fifty thousand, Alex. You're going to need it, because my father is pulling all investments from your family's firm effective immediately."

Sarah, realizing she had been engaged to a disloyal fraud who was now financially ruined, slapped Alex across the face and stormed out of the ballroom. Security escorted a trembling Alex out into the cold night. True class isn't bought with a platinum dress or a burgundy tuxedo; it is carried in the dignity of how you treat others when you think they have nothing to offer.
