The Rich Man Who Mocked My Waitress Uniform Didn’t Expect My Secret Past
Previously: When a wealthy heir publicly mocked a humble waitress and challenged her to a high-stakes dance, he had no idea she held a secret that could ruin his entire family.
The Price of Arrogance
The revelation struck the room like a thunderbolt. Alex’s face drained of all color. The Dubois name was legendary, and the sudden collapse of my father's company years ago had been shrouded in mystery. What Alex didn't know was that his own father had been the one to orchestrate the hostile takeover that ruined my family, a secret Arthur Vance had just recently uncovered.
Arthur turned to the security guards.
"Alex, your family's investment deal with my firm is officially terminated. I will not do business with thieves and bullies,"Arthur declared coldly. He then turned to me, his eyes softening.
"Chloe, I have been looking for you for years. Your father's assets were frozen, but the courts have finally ruled in your favor. The Dubois fortune, including the high-rise properties Alex's family currently occupies, has been restored to you."
Sarah gasped, clutching Alex's arm, but he shook her off, desperate. He fell to his knees in front of me.
"Chloe, please, I didn't know! We can still be together. I'll do whatever you want!"he pleaded, tears welling in his eyes. I looked down at him, holding the fifty-thousand-dollar check he had so arrogantly written to humiliate me.
I smiled calmly, tearing the check into tiny pieces and letting them fall like confetti over his head.
"You told me that if I could dance, you'd marry me tonight,"I said, my voice echoing clearly for everyone to hear.
"But I don't dance with monsters. And by the way, you have thirty days to vacate my buildings."Turning on my heel, I walked out of the ballroom, leaving Alex ruined and my family's legacy finally redeemed. True class is never defined by a uniform, but by the dignity and strength we carry within ourselves.
