A Rude Manager Mocked An Old Man, Unaware He Founded The Entire Store
A Dream Behind Glass
The glittering glass displays of Pendelton Fine Jewelers shone brightly under the warm, soft boutique lighting. It was a world of absolute luxury, where every diamond sparkled with a price tag that could buy a modest suburban home. Amidst the quiet elegance of the store, eight-year-old Lily stood transfixed. Wearing a bright red sweater that contrasted sharply with the muted tones of the boutique, she pressed her fingers gently against the glass display case.
She was pointing directly at a breathtaking five-carat diamond necklace that rested on a black velvet cushion. Standing right beside her was her grandfather, Arthur. Dressed in a simple, slightly worn tweed blazer and comfortable trousers, Arthur looked like an ordinary retired man enjoying an afternoon out with his beloved granddaughter. He smiled warmly at her enthusiasm.
"Grandpa, if I ever become rich, I'll come back for this one,"
Lily said, her voice filled with wide-eyed innocence and pure wonder.
But the sweet moment was instantly shattered. Sarah, a cold sales clerk wearing a sharp navy blazer, leaned heavily over the counter. Her eyes swept over Arthur's faded jacket and Lily's simple clothes with obvious disdain. She snapped coldly:
"Don't stand there dreaming over things you'll never touch."
Arthur’s warm smile faded instantly. He stepped protectively in front of Lily, his voice gentle but firm as he pleaded with the clerk.
"Please, she's only a child."
Before Sarah could reply, Richard, the slick store manager dressed in a sharp charcoal suit, walked up from behind the counter. His expression was sneering and arrogant as he stood shoulder-to-shoulder with Sarah, looking down at the elderly man and the young girl.
"Then teach her her place before bringing her in here,"
Richard declared loudly, ensuring other wealthy clients in the store could hear. He then turned and glanced toward a majestic, gold-framed portrait hanging on the mahogany wall behind him. With a smug grin, he asked Arthur,
"Do you even know who founded this store?"
