Previously: When Jenna's husband handed her a mysterious brown envelope in front of their closest friends, she thought it was a cruel joke. But the truth inside changed everything she believed about her marriage.

Safely inside her car, Jenna’s hands shook as she tore open the metal clasp of the brown envelope. She expected to see divorce papers or a lease termination agreement. Instead, as she pulled out the thick stack of documents, her eyes widened in utter disbelief.

These weren't legal separation papers. They were financial statements, medical records, and a deed of transfer.

The Hidden Truth

As Jenna scanned the pages, the puzzle pieces of the last six months began to fall into place. Mark had been acting distant, claiming he was working late to secure a promotion. But the bank statements in her hand revealed a different story. Huge sums of money had been transferred out of their joint savings account into a private LLC registered under Sarah’s name—their "awkward" friend who had been standing in the kitchen.

But the real shocker was a medical report at the bottom of the stack. It was a genetic compatibility test for a bone marrow transplant, dated three weeks ago. It listed Mark as the donor and Sarah's seven-year-old daughter, Lily, as the recipient.

Jenna gasped, tears finally spilling over her eyelashes. Lily was Jenna's goddaughter, and she had been battling a severe illness. Jenna had offered to get tested months ago, but Mark had vehemently insisted they shouldn't get involved, claiming the medical system would handle it and they couldn't afford the potential complications.

Why had Mark hidden this? Why was he transferring their life savings to Sarah?

A folded sticky note fell from the pages. In Mark's hurried handwriting, it read: "Sarah, the transfer is complete. Jenna can't find out about Lily being mine. Use this to pay for the private clinic in Switzerland. I'll handle Jenna."

The world spun. Mark wasn't just leaving her. He had fathered a child with her best friend years ago, and now, he was draining their joint assets to flee the country with them, leaving Jenna with nothing but a house she could no longer afford.
