A Stormy Night, A Bitter Accusation

The first-class lounge at the airport was a sanctuary of hushed luxury, a stark contrast to the tempest raging outside and within me. Midnight had settled, cloaking the world in darkness, but the rain-lashed, frosted glass walls offered glimpses of the runway lights, their amber glow distorted by the relentless downpour. A sneer touched my lips. "Twenty years ago you abandoned me like trash," I spat, my voice dripping with venom, "and now you dare chase me into first-class?!" She said nothing, her lips pressed firmly together, but tears instantly welled, tracing glistening paths down her wrinkled lower eyelids as her chin quivered, a silent testament to a heartbreak I refused to acknowledge.
