Previously: A billionaire hotelier finds her elderly father working as a dishwasher on her own yacht, humiliated by a cruel manager. When she steps in, the truth shatters every illusion — and the manager's downfall is only the beginning.

The Truth Behind Oswald's Cruelty Was a Family Secret Worse Than I Imagined

My father was still in the leather chair, Lucas curled up on his lap, but they weren't alone. Standing over them was a woman I hadn't seen in years — my mother's sister, Aunt Patricia. Her face was twisted with a cold smile that made my skin crawl.

"Hello, Elena," she said, her voice dripping with false sweetness. "I see you've been busy cleaning up your brother's mess."

"What are you doing here?" I demanded, stepping between her and my father.

"I came to see the show," she said, gesturing to the folder I'd left behind. "I knew Richard would crack eventually. He's always been weak."

My mind raced. "You knew about Oswald?"

"I knew more than that," she said, her smile widening. "I recommended him to Richard. Told him Oswald was the perfect manager for the yacht. I knew Oswald's methods — he's ruthless, but he's also easy to control. And I needed him to break your father."

"Why?" I choked out. "What did Dad ever do to you?"

Aunt Patricia's smile vanished, replaced by a mask of bitter rage. "He married my sister. He took her away from me. And when she died, he got everything — the house, the insurance money, your love. I got nothing."

"Mom died of cancer," I said, my voice shaking. "That had nothing to do with Dad."

"She was my twin," Patricia hissed. "We were supposed to share everything. But she chose him. And then she left me alone to deal with her death while he moved on, playing the grieving widower."

My father rose from the chair, his face pale. "Patricia, I never meant to hurt you. I didn't know you felt this way."

"You never bothered to ask," she spat. "So I decided to take everything from you — starting with your dignity. I used Richard's jealousy to get Oswald on this yacht. I fed Oswald information about your habits, your weaknesses. I wanted you to suffer, Daniel. I wanted you to know what it felt like to be completely humiliated."

I stepped forward, my fists clenched. "You're insane."

"Maybe," she said, shrugging. "But I'm also smart. And I have proof that Richard embezzled company funds to pay Oswald's bonuses. If you fire me or expose me, I'll take Richard down with me."

She held up a flash drive, dangling it in front of me like a taunt.

"I've already sent copies to the board," she said. "They'll be reading the emails by morning."

My heart pounded. Richard was an idiot, but he was still my brother. And if this got out, it would ruin him — and the company.

"What do you want?" I asked, my voice low.

Patricia's smile returned. "I want the yacht. And I want you to publicly acknowledge me as the true heir to the Kensington fortune. After all, my sister would have wanted that."

I stared at her, disbelief washing over me. "You can't be serious."

"Oh, I'm very serious," she said, stepping closer. "Or I'll release the evidence. It's your choice."

But before I could respond, Lucas slipped off my father's lap and walked up to Patricia. He looked up at her with big, tear-filled eyes.

"You're the mean lady who made Oswald burn Grandpa's hands," he said, his voice small but steady.

Patricia's face twisted. "Stay out of this, brat."

"My mommy told me," Lucas continued, "that when someone is mean, it's because they're sad inside. But that doesn't give them the right to hurt others."

Patricia's eyes narrowed. "You don't know anything."

"I know you're lonely," Lucas said. "And I know you miss Aunt Mary."

Patricia froze. For a moment, her mask slipped, and I saw a flicker of pain — of genuine grief.

"I do miss her," she whispered, her voice cracking. "Every day."

"Then why are you trying to hurt her family?" Lucas asked. "She wouldn't want that."

Patricia's eyes filled with tears. She looked at Lucas, then at my father, then at me. And slowly, the anger drained from her face, replaced by something that looked like shame.

"You're right," she said, her voice barely audible. "She wouldn't."

She dropped the flash drive on the table. "I'm sorry," she whispered, and then she turned and walked out of the salon, her shoulders hunched.

I stood there, my heart racing, watching her go. I didn't know if she would truly change, but in that moment, I saw a broken woman who had let grief turn into poison.

Later that night, as the yacht sailed into the golden sunset, I sat with my father and Lucas on the deck. Richard joined us, his eyes red from crying. He knelt in front of Dad.

"I'm sorry, Dad," he said. "I was so jealous of Elena that I forgot what mattered."

Dad reached out and touched Richard's shoulder. "I'm glad you're here, son. That's all that matters now."

I watched them embrace, and I felt a warmth spread through me. We had lost so much — but we still had each other.

And as the stars began to appear, I knew that this was only the beginning of our healing. We would rebuild, not as rivals, but as a family.

"I love you all," I said, pulling them into a group hug. "And I'm never letting anyone tear us apart again."
