Previously: Claire pretended to be comatose to expose Tiffany's greed. But when the safe was opened, the real betrayal surfaced—and a hidden camera captured it all.

The Trap at the Estate

Three days later, Claire announced she was selling the family estate. It was a lie, of course—a carefully crafted piece of bait designed to lure Alan into the open. She let the news slip through a mutual acquaintance, knowing it would reach him within hours. The estate was worth millions, and if Alan was as greedy as Tiffany, he would not be able to resist.

The morning of the supposed sale, Claire stood in the grand foyer, dressed in a simple black dress that made her look like a widow in mourning. Sophie was at a friend's house, safe and far away. Claire had hired extra security, but they were hidden, waiting for a signal.

Alan arrived at noon, his smile polished and his suit impeccable. "I heard you're selling," he said, his voice smooth. "I thought I might make an offer before it goes to market."

Claire gestured him inside. "I'm open to offers," she said, leading him into the library where the second safe was hidden behind a false panel. "But I have a few conditions."

Alan's eyes flickered to the panel, just for a second. "Name them."

"I want you to admit the truth," Claire said, her voice steady. "I know you helped Tiffany. I know you planned the accident."

Alan's smile froze. "I don't know what you're talking about."

"Don't play games," Claire said, pulling the USB drive from her pocket. "I have evidence. Emails, wire transfers, witness statements. It's all here."

Alan's composure cracked. His face twisted with rage. "You think you're so clever," he spat. "But you have nothing. That evidence will never see the light of day."

He lunged toward her, but Claire was ready. She pressed a button on her phone, and the hidden security team burst through the doors. Alan was pinned to the ground, his arms twisted behind his back.

"You're under arrest for attempted murder and conspiracy," Claire said, her voice cold. "And unlike Tiffany, you'll be going away for a very long time."

Alan screamed obscenities as he was dragged away, but Claire didn't listen. She walked to the window, looking out at the estate that had been in her husband's family for generations. It was over. The people who had tried to destroy her life were behind bars.

The Twist and the New Beginning

But the surprises weren't over. As the police cars drove away, Claire received a call from Rick. "Claire, there's something you need to see," he said. "It's about Edward."

Her heart stopped. "What about him?"

"He didn't die in the accident," Rick said, his voice barely a whisper. "He's alive. He's been in a witness protection program for the past year, testifying against a crime syndicate that he uncovered through his business dealings. Tiffany and Alan were part of it. He couldn't contact you—they threatened to kill you and Sophie if he did."

Claire's legs gave out, and she sank onto the floor, tears streaming down her face. "Where is he?"

"He's at a safe house in Montana," Rick said. "He wants to see you. He wants to meet Sophie."

Two weeks later, Claire and Sophie drove through the winding roads of Montana, the mountains rising like silent guardians. The safe house was a modest cabin, smoke curling from the chimney. Claire's hands trembled as she knocked on the door.

Edward opened it, older and thinner, but alive. Sophie looked up at him, her eyes wide. "Daddy?"

He knelt down, tears in his eyes. "Hey, sweetheart."

Sophie launched herself into his arms, sobbing with joy. Claire joined them, and they held each other, a family reunited against all odds.

"I'm sorry," Edward whispered. "I'm so sorry I had to disappear."

"You're here now," Claire said, her voice thick with emotion. "That's all that matters."

They spent the next few weeks reconnecting, learning to be a family again. Edward told them everything—the syndicate, the threats, the years of hiding. Claire shared her own story, the coma ruse, the camera, the arrests.

When it was time to return to the estate, they did so together, hand in hand. The house felt different now—lighter, as if the shadows had finally been lifted. Claire looked at her family and knew that, no matter what challenges lay ahead, they would face them together.

"I think it's time for a new chapter," Edward said, squeezing her hand.

Claire smiled, her heart full. "I think you're right."

And as the sun set over the estate, they stood on the balcony, watching the world turn golden, ready for whatever came next. The past was behind them, and the future was bright.
