Previously: While searching through a gritty metal scrapyard, Jessica makes a chilling discovery inside a locked wooden crate, revealing a dark family secret that someone tried to bury forever.

The Betrayal Unveiled

Jessica clawed at the stubborn ropes, her fingernails tearing against the rough fibers. Desperation lent her strength, and she managed to find a rusted metal rod nearby to pry the thick knots loose. With a final, agonizing heave, the ropes gave way, and she threw open the heavy lid of the crate. What she saw inside made her blood run cold. Lying bound and gagged on the dusty floor of the crate was her younger sister, Chloe, who had been missing for three agonizing days.

Jessica quickly pulled the gag from Chloe’s mouth and untied her wrists. Chloe collapsed into her sister's arms, sobbing uncontrollably, her body shivering despite the humid air.

"Oh my god, Chloe! Who did this to you?" Jessica cried, holding her sister tight.

Chloe looked up, her eyes filled with absolute terror. She clutched Jessica’s dusty gray t-shirt, her voice shaking violently as she spilled the horrifying truth.

"It was Julian," Chloe gasped, coughing. "He locked me in here. He said if I didn't sign over the deed to Dad's property, he would leave me here to rot. Jessica, he’s coming back. He’s coming back today to check if I've given in!"

Julian was their stepbrother, a ruthless man who had always resented them. The realization of his ultimate betrayal struck Jessica like a physical blow. But before she could process the shock, the low rumble of an engine echoed through the scrapyard. A black SUV pulled up near the entrance, its headlights cutting through the gloom. Julian had arrived.

Jessica's survival instincts kicked in. She knew they couldn't outrun his car on foot. She gripped Chloe's shoulders, looking directly into her panicked eyes.

"We have to hide," Jessica whispered urgently. "Now."

Jessica whispered urgently. "Now."
