Previously: When Clara ruthlessly shoved her elderly mother-in-law, Evelyn, into a crocodile-infested river during a family expedition, she thought she had secured the inheritance. But the jungle held a shocking secret.

The Jungle's Hidden Witness

As David struggled to bypass his manic wife, Clara swung the heavy canteen, striking him hard across the temple. David collapsed into the bottom of the canoe, dazed and bleeding. Clara watched with a sickening smile as Evelyn sank beneath the muddy surface, the massive crocodile submerging right where she had been.

"It's over," Clara whispered to herself, already rehearsing the tragic accident story she would tell the authorities back in Florida. "A tragic jungle mishap."

But Clara’s triumph was short-lived. Just as the crocodile prepared to strike, a loud, sharp crack echoed through the dense canopy. A tranquilizer dart embedded itself into the neck of the giant reptile. From the thick mangrove roots on the opposite bank, a battered motorboat surged forward.

At the helm was Samuel, a local wildlife ranger whom Evelyn had secretly hired before they ever set foot in the jungle. Evelyn had suspected for months that Clara was poisoning her tea back home to inherit the family's multi-million-dollar estate. The jungle expedition was a trap, but not the one Clara had planned.

Samuel quickly hauled the sputtering, terrified Evelyn out of the water just as the sedated crocodile drifted harmlessly past.

"I've got you, Mrs. Vance," Samuel grunted, pulling her shivering body onto the deck.

Evelyn coughed up muddy water, her eyes flashing with a cold, steel-like determination. She looked across the narrow channel to where Clara stood in the drifting canoe, her jaw dropped in utter disbelief.

"You thought I was a foolish old woman, Clara," Evelyn shouted across the water, her voice raspy but fierce. "But I knew what you were doing to my medicine. I wanted to see how far your greed would take you."

Clara’s face went pale. She looked down at the semi-conscious David, then back at Evelyn, realizing that her entire plan had been captured on the ranger's mounted bow camera.
