She Refused to Feed Her Hungry Stepson, Unaware Her Husband Knew Her Darkest Secret
Previously: When Lorna refused to make lunch for her young stepson Leo, she thought she was in control. But her husband Robert walked in with a devastating truth that shattered her entire world.
The House of Cards Collapses
The silence that followed Robert's declaration was suffocating. Lorna stood frozen, her hands trembling against the edge of the marble countertop. The beige apron she wore suddenly felt like a straightjacket. She tried to laugh, a nervous, high-pitched sound that died instantly in her throat.
"Robert, what on earth are you talking about?" Lorna stammered, her voice shaking. "That’s a sick joke. Of course they are your children! How could you say something so horrible in front of Leo?"
Robert didn't flinch. He reached into his dark grey suit jacket and pulled out a thick white envelope. He tossed it onto the kitchen island, right next to the untouched plates of food. The papers slid across the marble, stopping inches from Lorna’s hands.
"I had my doubts for a long time, Lorna," Robert said, his voice cold as ice. "But I wanted to trust you. I wanted to believe we were a family. But when I saw how you treated Leo—how you starved him of affection and even basic food while living under my roof—I decided to get the truth."
Lorna stared at the official laboratory logo on the document. Her hands shook violently as she pulled the papers out. The bold letters reading 0% Probability of Paternity for both of her children stared back at her. Her secret, kept hidden for nearly six years, was laid bare on a single sheet of paper.
For years, Lorna had been carrying on an affair with her former partner, using Robert’s successful career to fund a lavish lifestyle for herself and her biological children, all while treating Leo like an outcast. She had assumed Robert would never find out, believing him to be too blinded by love to notice the truth.
"Robert, please, it was a mistake!" Lorna cried, dropping the papers as tears finally spilled over her cheeks. "I can explain! We can work through this!"
"There is nothing to work through," Robert replied, stepping forward to wrap a protective arm around Leo's shoulders. "You used me, and worse, you abused my son."
