Previously: Elena dove into the pool to save baby Theo from a rolling stroller. But Selena screamed it was attempted murder—until a nanny-cam revealed the terrifying truth.

The Witness Who Broke the Case Wide Open

The recess felt like an eternity. Marcus paced the hallway, his phone pressed to his ear, trying to reach his forensic expert. I sat on a bench, Theo in my arms, his little head resting on my shoulder.

"We're not going to lose him," I whispered to him, more for myself than for him. "I promise."

She Saved My Son From the Pool — Then My Wife Framed Her. The Nanny Cam Had Other Plans.

But promises felt hollow when the court reconvened.

The witness Selena's lawyer called was a middle-aged woman with sharp features and a tight smile. She introduced herself as a former employer of mine.

"Ms. Elena worked for me for six months," she said, her voice dripping with false sincerity. "She was careless, negligent. She let my daughter wander near the pool. I had to let her go."

I shot to my feet. "That's a lie! I never worked for her. I've never seen her in my life!"

The judge slammed her gavel. "Order! Ms. Elena, you'll have your turn."

But the damage was done. The courtroom was buzzing with whispers. Selena looked triumphant.

Then Marcus's lawyer stood. "Your Honor, I'd like to cross-examine the witness."

The woman shifted in her seat. "Of course."

"You say Elena worked for you six months ago. Can you tell me the exact dates?"

The woman hesitated. "Um, around March to August."

"And where was this position located?"

"In Bel Air."

Marcus's lawyer smiled. "Interesting. Because Elena's employment records show she was working at St. Mary's Children's Hospital during that entire period. I have her timecards and pay stubs here."

He handed the papers to the judge. The woman's face went pale.

"So you're lying under oath," Marcus's lawyer continued. "Who paid you to say that?"

The woman's eyes darted to Selena, who was shaking her head frantically. "I—I don't know what you're talking about."

But the judge was already shaking her head. "This court has no tolerance for perjury. Bailiff, take this witness into custody."

As the woman was led away, I saw Selena's facade crumble. Her lawyer leaned in, whispering urgently. But Selena was already standing, her voice a ragged scream.

"This is a circus! I'm the victim here! She tried to kill my son!"

The judge slammed her gavel again. "Ms. Thorne, you will sit down, or you will be held in contempt. Given the evidence presented, including the nanny-cam footage and the perjury of your witness, I am dismissing your custody petition with prejudice."

"And I am referring this matter to the district attorney for potential criminal charges, including attempted murder and filing false reports."

Selena collapsed into her chair, her face a mask of stunned disbelief. She was dragged out by security, her high heels clicking against the marble floor.

I felt a wave of dizziness. It was over. It was finally over.

Marcus wrapped his arms around me and Theo, his voice thick with emotion. "Thank you, Elena. You saved my son. And you saved me from a monster."

Theo giggled, patting Marcus's cheek with a sticky hand. In that moment, I knew I wasn't just the nanny anymore. I was family.

Later that evening, on the deck, the sunset painted the sky in shades of orange and pink. Martha brought out a tray of lemonade, and we sat there, watching the waves crash against the shore.

"What will happen to Selena?" I asked.

"She'll face charges," Marcus said. "And I've already filed for divorce. She'll get nothing."

He looked at me, his eyes soft. "Elena, I want you to stay. Not as a nanny, but as Theo's guardian. I want to adopt you as his legal guardian, in case anything ever happens to me."

I was speechless. "Marcus, I…"

"You're the only mother he's ever known," he said. "And I trust you with my life."

Tears streamed down my face. I looked at Theo, his little face lit by the golden light, and I knew I'd found my home.

In the end, justice wasn't just about the truth — it was about the family we chose to protect. And I would protect Theo with every ounce of my being.

As the stars began to appear, I made a silent promise. I would never let anyone hurt him again. Not even his own mother.

And in the quiet of that Malibu night, I knew that love — fierce, protective, and unconditional — was the only thing that truly mattered.
