Previously: Sabrina forged the DNA report to take my daughter. But when Rafael broke the red wax seal, the truth she tried to bury exploded in her face — and my world flipped forever.

The Hidden Page That Brought Sabrina Back from the Brink

The paper trembled in my hands. It was a birth certificate—but not Nico’s. It was for a baby girl born twenty-eight years ago at St. Mary’s Hospital, and the mother’s name was listed as Elena Rivera. My mother’s name.

I stared at the date. It was my birthday. And the father’s name? Rafael Castellano.

My legs gave out. I sank onto the velvet sofa, Nico still asleep in his bassinet, oblivious. My mind raced, pieces clicking together like a lock finally turning.

I always knew I was adopted. But my adoptive parents never told me about my birth family. They said it was a closed case. But this—this meant Rafael was my biological father. Which meant Nico was his grandson. And Sabrina—she wasn’t just a scheming fiancée. She was my half-sister.

I felt sick. I stumbled to the bathroom and threw up.

The next morning, I confronted Rafael in his study. He was at his desk, surrounded by papers, looking like he hadn’t slept. I slammed the birth certificate in front of him.

“Who is Elena Rivera?” I demanded, my voice shaking.

Rafael’s face went white. He stared at the paper like it was a ghost. “Where did you find this?”

“In the dossier. In Nico’s blanket. The truth, Rafael. Tell me the truth.”

He closed his eyes, and for a moment, he looked old. Broken. “Elena was… my first love. We were nineteen. Her family was poor, mine was wealthy. They forced us apart. I never knew she had a child. I never knew about you.”

“So you’re my father?” My voice cracked.

He nodded, tears in his eyes. “And Sabrina—she’s your half-sister. Her mother, Isabella, was my wife. She must have found out about you. That’s why she wanted Nico. To hurt you. To destroy you—and me.”

I shook my head, the pieces falling into a horrifying picture. “She wanted to take Nico to claim inheritance. But why not just expose you as her father? Why go through all this?”

“Because if you were recognized as my daughter, you’d have a claim to everything. She wanted to keep you hidden. She wanted to be the only child. And she was willing to steal your baby to do it.”

I felt the walls closing in. “But she’s in jail now. It’s over.”

Rafael’s phone buzzed. He glanced at it, and his face turned to stone. “No,” he said. “It’s not over.”

He handed me the phone. On the screen was a news alert: “Sabrina Castellano released on bail. Claims she has evidence that will expose the Castellano family’s darkest secret.”

My blood ran cold. “What secret?”

Rafael’s jaw tightened. “The real reason Elena gave you up. It wasn’t just poverty. It was because Isabella threatened to reveal that Elena was involved in a scandal that would have ruined my father’s company. She made a deal. And the price was you.”

I felt tears burn my eyes. “So my whole life was a lie?”

“Not anymore,” Rafael said, standing. “We’re going to fight this. Together.”

But as he spoke, the door burst open. Sabrina stood there, flanked by lawyers, her violet dress pristine, her smirk back in full force.

“Did you miss me?” she cooed. “I have a new document. And this one will bury you both.”

She held up a manila envelope. Inside, I could see a photo—a woman who looked just like me, standing next to a man with Rafael’s face. And beneath it, a handwritten letter.

“This is your mother’s confession,” Sabrina said, her voice dripping with venom. “She admitted that she sold you to the Rivera family for a hundred thousand dollars. And that Rafael knew about it. You’re not a lost heiress, Clara. You’re a purchase.”

I felt the world tilt. Rafael reached for me, but I pulled back.

“Is this true?” I whispered.

He didn’t answer. And that silence was louder than any scream.
