Previously: Captain Evelyn Vance watched her husband accept the nation's highest military honor. But as the crowd roared, she held the one piece of evidence that would destroy him forever.

The Confrontation on Stage

Just as the general lifted the medal to pin it onto Thomas’s chest, a sharp, commanding voice cut through the solemn silence of the hall. "Stop the ceremony, General."

A collective gasp rippled through the audience. Heads turned instantly toward the back of the hall, where Captain Evelyn Vance was marching down the center aisle. Her spine was straight, her eyes burning with an intense, quiet fury. Thomas’s smile vanished, his face turning an ashen gray as he watched his wife approach. He tried to maintain his composure, whispering frantically to the general, but Evelyn did not stop until she reached the steps of the stage.

"Captain Vance, what is the meaning of this interruption?"
the general demanded, his brow furrowed in deep anger.
"This is a highly classified ceremony. Stand down immediately."

Evelyn stepped onto the stage, ignoring the security guards who hesitated to tackle a decorated female captain. She pulled a digital drive and Marcus’s dog tags from her pocket, holding them high for the entire room to see. "I will not stand down while a coward wears the medal of a true hero," she declared, her voice carrying across the silent hall.

"Major Thomas Vance did not save his unit. He ordered a retreat, locked the armored transport doors, and left three wounded men—including my brother—to die so he could escape."

A murmur of shock erupted from the crowd. Thomas stepped forward, his voice shaking with forced outrage.

"Evelyn, you’re grieving! She’s lost her mind, General. The trauma of her brother's death has made her unstable!"

But Evelyn was prepared. She pointed directly at the media console at the back of the room. "Play the audio file on that drive," she commanded.

"Let the military court hear the real-time telemetry and Thomas’s own voice refusing to turn back for the survivors."
