Previously: When a wealthy campus queen tried to publicly humiliate Zoe over a supposedly fake designer bag, she never expected Zoe to fight back—or to expose her own deepest, darkest secret.

The Bitter Aftermath

The viral video of Paige's public downfall spread through the university like wildfire. By the next morning, the girl who had ruled the social scene was the laughingstock of the campus. But Zoe knew this battle was far from over. Paige's family was incredibly wealthy—or so everyone believed—and they wielded immense influence over the administration. Sure enough, before her first lecture, Zoe received an urgent summons to the Dean’s office.

When Zoe walked in, she wasn't surprised to see Paige sitting in a plush leather chair, her eyes red from crying, flanked by her mother, Victoria, a woman dripping in diamonds and arrogance. Dean Vance looked visibly uncomfortable, caught between university policy and the demands of a major donor.

"This delinquent assaulted my daughter!" Victoria demanded, slamming her hand on the mahogany desk. "I want her expelled immediately, and I want charges filed!"

Dean Vance sighed, turning to Zoe. "Zoe, do you have anything to say for yourself? Physical violence is a zero-tolerance offense here."

Zoe remained perfectly calm. She pulled a manila folder from her backpack and placed it gently on the desk. "I was defending myself from physical harassment, Dean Vance. And I think Mrs. Vance—and the rest of the board—would be very interested to see what is inside this folder before anyone talks about calling the police."

Victoria scoffed, but as Zoe opened the folder, the older woman's face drained of color. Inside were manufacturing manifests, shipping logs, and design patents. Zoe's late mother had been a brilliant, independent leather artisan. Years ago, Victoria's husband had contracted her mother to design a luxury line, only to steal the patents, bankrupt her mother's small business, and mass-produce cheap, counterfeit knock-offs under the guise of high-end luxury. The "LUCCI" label in Paige's bag wasn't just a random fake; it was from the very factory Victoria's husband secretly owned to skim profits and evade taxes.

"Your family built an empire on stolen designs and financial fraud," Zoe said, looking Victoria dead in the eye. "And I have the proof."
