Previously: Matthew returned home during a violent storm to find his young son locked outside, sobbing. Inside, his wife was in the arms of another man, completely ignoring her child's cries.

A Double Betrayal

Lauren gasped, her eyes widening in sheer terror as she looked from her furious husband to the shivering little boy she had supposedly forgotten. But the shock that paralyzed Matthew went far deeper than his wife's infidelity. As the man in his bed scrambled to pull up the duvet, the dim light caught his face. It wasn't a stranger. It was Julian, Matthew’s estranged half-brother and former business partner—a man who had spent years trying to undermine everything Matthew built.

"Julian? What is the meaning of this?" Matthew whispered, his voice cracking under the weight of the ultimate betrayal.

Lauren began to stammer hysterically, her hands shaking. "Matthew, I swear, I didn't know Logan was out there! I thought he was still at his grandmother's sleepover! You said he was staying the night!"

Matthew stepped closer, his boots soaking the carpet, his eyes burning with a dangerous intensity. "The sleepover was canceled because of the storm, Lauren. I texted you three hours ago. I told you I was bringing him home early. You replied to my message!"

Lauren looked genuinely bewildered, turning her head to stare at Julian. "No... I never saw any text. My phone has been off." She paused, her eyes darting to Julian's smug, silent expression. The silence in the room grew heavy, suffocating. Matthew’s gaze shifted to the nightstand, where Lauren's phone sat—fully powered on, but flipped face down next to a glass of wine.

A horrific realization began to dawn on Lauren. She looked at Julian, her voice dropping to a trembling whisper. "Julian... when you went downstairs earlier to get the wine... did you hear something at the door? Did you lock it?"
