Previously: When a weeping five-year-old girl interrupted a billionaire's high-society banquet holding a rare silver locket, she set off a chain of events that would tear a wealthy family apart.

The Secret in the Letter

As Albert knelt before Nora, the silence in the banquet hall was suffocating. He gently took the silver locket from her tiny hand. With trembling fingers, he flipped it open. Inside was the unmistakable, faded photograph of his late wife holding their long-lost daughter, Eleanor. Albert’s voice cracked as he looked up at Nora. "Where did you get this, sweetheart?" he asked, his eyes welling with tears.

Before Nora could answer, Diana rushed to her father's side, her face pale and her voice desperate.

"Father, please, don't listen to this. This is a cheap stunt! Eleanor ran away twenty years ago and cut all ties with us. This child is probably an actress hired by our competitors to create a scandal!"

But Albert ignored Diana. He looked at Nora, who whimpered,

"My mommy is very sick in the hospital. She told me to find the man with the matching heart. She said he would protect me from the bad people who took our home."
Nora then reached into her pocket and pulled out a crumpled, yellowed letter, handing it to Albert.

Albert smoothed out the paper. The handwriting belonged to Eleanor. As his eyes scanned the frantic lines, his heart shattered. Eleanor hadn't run away because she hated him. She had been forced to flee. The letter detailed how, twenty years ago, Diana had threatened Eleanor's life and the life of her unborn child, framing her for a theft she didn't commit to ensure Diana would inherit the entire family fortune. Eleanor had spent two decades hiding in poverty, terrified of her sister's reach, until a terminal illness forced her to send her daughter back to the only man who could save her.

Albert slowly stood up, the warmth leaving his face as he turned to face Diana. The elegant woman in the rose gold dress took a step back, her confident facade crumbling into sheer terror as she realized her twenty-year-old lie had just been laid bare in front of the city's entire elite.
