Thomas laughed nervously, getting out of his car. "What are you talking about? Who do you think you are, some secret millionaire?"

Jack opened the manila envelope and pulled out a stack of official, notarized documents. "My family's holding company, Vance Enterprises, just purchased the entire mortgage of the Golden Oak Diner," Jack explained calmly. "We bought out the debt this morning. And as the sole owner, I have the authority to make some immediate executive decisions."

Thomas went pale, his jaw dropping as he stared at the official seal on the papers. He looked from Jack to Clara, his arrogance instantly evaporating into sheer panic.

"I believe in rewarding humanity and weeding out cruelty," Jack continued, looking directly at Thomas. "Your employment at the diner is terminated, effective immediately. We don't need people who treat the vulnerable with contempt."

Thomas opened his mouth to protest, but seeing the steel in Jack's eyes, he quickly scrambled back into his car and sped away, leaving a cloud of dust behind him.

Clara stood frozen, tears welling up in her eyes. "Jack... I don't know what to say. You bought the diner?"

"I bought it for you, Clara," Jack said softly, handing her the documents. "These papers name you as the managing partner and co-owner of the Golden Oak Diner. I am also setting up a medical trust for your mother. You showed me kindness when I was at my absolute worst. This is just a small way of saying thank you."

Overwhelmed with gratitude, Clara wept as she hugged the man she had once saved with a simple cup of tea. The diner was saved, her mother's care was secured, and Clara had found a lifelong friend in Jack.
