Previously: When Mia crashed her sister Ashley's wedding clutching an old vintage camera, everyone thought it was a childish stunt. But the recording inside exposed a dark betrayal that shattered the ceremony.

The Voice on the Tape

The chapel fell into a suffocating silence. Michael stood frozen, his hand outstretched, mere inches from the camera. Ashley stepped back, shielding Mia with her own body. The warmth she had felt just moments ago turned to ice. "Let it play, Mia," Ashley commanded, her voice steady despite the tremor in her hands.

Michael tried to laugh it off, a strained, hollow sound. "Ashley, darling, this is ridiculous. It’s some stupid prank. We don't have time for this." But his sweating forehead and dazed eyes betrayed his absolute terror.

Mia pressed the play button again. The audio resumed, loud and clear over the chapel's sound system. Michael’s voice boomed through the speakers, talking to his father, who was sitting in the front row.

"After the wedding, I’ll take control of her family's trust fund. Ashley is clueless. She thinks I actually love her, but once the papers are signed, we'll transfer the assets and leave her with nothing. She's just a stepping stone."

A collective gasp rippled through the pews. Ashley’s mother covered her mouth in horror, while her father stood up, his face red with rage. Ashley felt as if the ground had vanished beneath her feet. She looked at Michael, the man she had loved for three years, the man she was about to pledge her life to. He wasn't the sweet, caring partner she thought he was; he was a cold, calculating predator.

"Is this true?" Ashley whispered, her voice cracking as tears finally spilled over her cheeks. "Did you only marry me for my family's money?"

Michael realized there was no escaping the evidence. His polite facade completely crumbled. "Ashley, be realistic," he sneered, his tone turning cold and manipulative. "Your family has more money than they know what to do with. We could have had a great life together if you just kept your annoying little sister out of it!"
