The Audio That Shattered a Dream

The crackling audio from the vintage camera filled the silent chapel, cutting through the tense atmosphere like a knife. The voice on the recording—Andrew’s voice—continued to play, loud and clear enough for the front rows to hear. "After the wedding, I'll take control of her family's estate. Amanda is completely clueless. She thinks I actually love her, but once the papers are signed, I’m transferring the funds." Another voice giggled on the recording, a voice Amanda recognized instantly. It was Chloe, her maid of honor and cousin, who was currently standing just feet away, holding Amanda's bouquet.

The recording played Chloe's response: "Just make sure you don't get cold feet, Andrew. We've planned this for months. I want my share." The audio cut to static, leaving the chapel in a suffocating, breathless silence. Amanda felt the world spinning around her. She slowly turned to look at Chloe, whose face had drained of all color. Chloe dropped the bouquet, the white roses scattering across the cold floor.

Andrew scrambled, his hands shaking as he tried to grab Amanda’s arm. "Amanda, baby, please! That’s a deepfake, or—or a joke! We were just joking around before the ceremony! You know how Chloe and I have a weird sense of humor," he stammered, his voice cracking with desperation. He looked around the room, pleading with the guests, but everyone stared back at him with disgust. Amanda's father stood up from the front row, his face red with fury, stepping between Andrew and his daughter.

"Don't you dare touch her," her father growled, his voice trembling with rage. "It’s over, Andrew. Get out of my sight before I have you thrown out."

Amanda looked down at Harper, who was still holding the camera. The little girl had only wanted to use their late mother’s favorite camera to take some candid behind-the-scenes videos. She had accidentally left it recording in the groom's suite. It was a miracle disguised as a child's mistake.
