Previously: When nineteen-year-old Leo disrupted his sister's funeral with a sledgehammer, the mourners were horrified—until a desperate cry from inside the sealed casket changed everything.

The Stepfather's Sinister Scheme

The sight of Maya alive inside the coffin sent a shockwave of terror through the chapel. Sarah shrieked, falling backward into the pews, while other mourners scrambled for safety. David stood frozen, his gun still aimed at Leo, but his eyes betrayed a desperate, trapped panic.

"Put the gun down, David!"
Leo screamed, refusing to step away from his sister.
"Everyone see what he did! He tried to bury her alive!"

Using the claw end of the hammer, Leo frantically pried the ruined wooden lid open. He reached inside and gently but quickly peeled the heavy duct tape from Maya's lips. She gasped for air, coughing violently as tears streamed down her pale cheeks.

"He drugged me,"
Maya sobbed, her voice weak but clear. She pointed a trembling finger directly at David.
"He put something in my tea. I woke up in the dark, paralyzed. He wanted me gone!"

The congregation erupted into chaos. David’s facade of the grieving stepfather completely crumbled. He began to back toward the exit, his gun waving wildly to keep the crowd at bay. It was a desperate bid for survival. The truth was now laid bare: Maya had been set to inherit her late mother’s massive estate on her upcoming twenty-first birthday. David, deeply in debt and facing ruin, had concocted a twisted plan to eliminate her and claim the fortune for himself. He had even bribed a corrupt medical examiner to sign a falsified death certificate.

Leo stepped in front of his sister, shielding her with his own body.

"You won't hurt her anymore,"
Leo said, his voice steadying. David sneered, his finger tightening on the trigger as he realized his freedom was slipping away. The chapel had turned from a place of mourning into a deadly standoff.
