The bright overhead lights of the Apex Shooting Range hummed with energy, reflecting off the polished brass casings scattered across the floor. It was the annual Governor’s Cup, a high-stakes tactical shooting tournament dominated by the young, the wealthy, and the arrogant. Among them stood Cody Vance, a twenty-five-year-old prodigy wearing a pristine blue-and-white athletic polo. He was currently the top-seeded shooter, surrounded by a crowd of adoring fans.

Then, the heavy double doors swung open.

Evelyn, a resolute woman in her mid-sixties with cropped, salt-and-pepper hair and a faded olive green tactical jacket, walked in. She carried a worn, black gear case that had seen better days. The crowd went quiet, whispering as she calmly approached the registration desk and then walked up to the shooting line.

Cody smirked, nudging his friend. He stepped forward, blocking her path.

"Hey, ma'am," Cody drawled, his voice dripping with condescension. "This isn't a retirement club. The knitting circle is down the street."

Evelyn didn't blink. She calmly reached into her jacket, pulled out her identification card, and slapped it onto the registration counter.

"I came here to compete," she said, her voice steady and cold as steel.

The crowd chuckled, expecting an embarrassing display. But as Evelyn stepped into her stance, the laughter died. She drew her pistol in a motion so fluid, so blindingly fast, it looked like a magic trick. Before anyone could draw a breath, she fired.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

Five rapid, deafening shots echoed through the range. Down the lane, the target slid back. Every single bullet had passed through the exact same microscopic hole in the absolute center of the bullseye.

"Impossible!" a spectator shouted, gripping the railing.

Behind the desk, Harold, an older official wearing horn-rimmed spectacles, stared at the registration sheet in absolute shock. He adjusted his glasses, his hands trembling as he stared at the name.

"Wait," Harold whispered, his face turning pale. "That name... It can't be."

He looked up at Evelyn, who stood calm and victorious, while Cody stood frozen in the background, his face completely drained of color.
