Previously: When 24-year-old Lincoln mocked 68-year-old Mabel at the local shooting range, he thought she was just an easy target. But one look at her registration form changed everything.

A Legend Redefined

Victor’s eyes gleamed with malice.

"A single shot,"
he proposed.
"At fifty yards, blind target, moving at maximum speed. If you hit the dead center, I'll register you. If you miss, you hand over your historic gold medal to my display case, and you never show your face here again."

The crowd held its breath. A fifty-yard moving target was nearly impossible even for active Olympic athletes, let alone a sixty-eight-year-old who hadn't competed in decades. Allan shook his head.

"Mabel, don't do it. It's a trap."

But Mabel simply smiled. It was the same calm, unbreakable smile she had worn forty years ago.

"I accept,"
she said softly.

The range was prepped. The moving target was set. Mabel stepped up to the line, her hands perfectly steady. She didn't use modern high-tech gear; she relied entirely on her muscle memory and her deep connection to the weapon. She closed her eyes for a brief second, breathing in sync with the rhythm of the range.

When the target zipped across the lane, Mabel raised her pistol and fired. A single, deafening crack echoed through the hall. For a moment, there was absolute silence. Then, the computer monitor beeped, displaying the camera feed of the target. The bullet had passed directly through the absolute center of the moving bullseye, splitting the marker in two.

The room erupted into wild cheers. Allan clapped Victor on the shoulder, while Victor stood frozen, his face white as a sheet. He had no choice but to retrieve the torn registration form and sign her up himself.

Lincoln walked up to Mabel, his cockiness completely gone. He extended his hand in deep respect.

"I have a lot to learn,"
he admitted quietly.
"Would you consider coaching me?"

Mabel smiled, shaking his hand. She had returned to the range to find peace, but she had found a new purpose instead. True greatness is never defined by age, but by the unbreakable spirit that refuses to be silenced.

The End
