Previously: When a ruthless martial arts instructor stole her mother's legacy and banned her from the dojo, eleven-year-old Lupia decided to settle the score on the tatami mat with one legendary kick.

The Shield of Silence Shatters

For several agonizing seconds, the only sound in the dojo was Richard’s heavy, labored breathing. He remained on his knees, staring up at Lupia with a mixture of shock and boiling rage. Never in his decades of training had he been so thoroughly humiliated, let alone by a child. He struggled to his feet, his face flushed red as he tried to regain his composure.

"You are expelled!"

Richard roared, his voice trembling with anger.

"Get out of my dojo, and never show your face here again! Your mother is finished, and so are you!"

But as Richard stepped forward to grab Lupia’s shoulder, a wall of white gis moved to block him. Marcus stepped in front of the young girl, his arms crossed, his bearded face set in stone. Helen and several other black belts followed suit, forming a protective barrier around the brave prodigy. Richard stumbled back, stunned by the sudden mutiny.

"What is the meaning of this?"

Richard hissed, looking at his senior students.

"I am the master here!"

Lupia stepped out from behind Marcus, her voice ringing clear and true.

"You are no master, Richard. You are a thief,"

she declared, pulling a thick manila folder from her gear bag and tossing it onto the mat.

Marcus picked up the papers, holding them up for everyone to see. He explained that while Sarah was recovering in the hospital, Richard had forged her signature on a buyout agreement, effectively stealing her fifty percent ownership of the academy. He had also embezzled thousands of dollars from the dojo's communal fund, which was meant for student scholarships. Helen and Marcus had been quietly investigating his fraud, but they had been too afraid of Richard's influence to speak up. It took the immense courage of an eleven-year-old girl to finally break their silence.
