Previously: When a wealthy socialite tried to humiliate Patricia inside an upscale jewelry store, she had no idea she was speaking to the billionaire owner who held her family's entire fortune.

The Price of Arrogance

Within two hours, the corporate freeze had sent shockwaves through the local business community. Tiffany’s father, Arthur Vance, was the CEO of the primary distribution network that supplied Aurum & Co.’s rare gemstones. When his corporate credit lines were suddenly locked and his contracts put under "emergency review," he nearly had a stroke. It took him less than thirty minutes to trace the source of the disaster back to his daughter’s behavior at the flagship store.

Now, Arthur and a trembling Tiffany stood inside Patricia's top-floor executive suite. The contrast was stark; the smug, untouchable girl in the rose gold dress was now pale, clutching her father's arm as if it were a life raft. In the hallway outside, Edward, the dismissed manager, sat on a bench with his head in his hands, waiting to hear if his career was officially over.

"Patricia, please," Arthur pleaded, his voice shaking as he leaned over her desk. "My daughter was foolish. She didn't know who you were. If you terminate our supply contract, my company will go under by the end of the week. Hundreds of families will lose their livelihoods because of a silly girl's mistake."

Patricia remained silent, slowly sipping her tea. She let the silence stretch until Tiffany began to softly sob. "I'm sorry," Tiffany whispered, her voice barely audible. "I shouldn't have said those things. I was out of line."

Patricia set her cup down with a soft click. "You aren't sorry because you hurt someone, Tiffany. You are sorry because you finally insulted someone who has the power to crush you," she said coldly. "But I am a businesswoman, and I believe in lessons, not just punishments. I will restore your father's contracts, and I will allow Edward to keep a junior position in the company under one condition."

Tiffany looked up, hope and dread battling in her eyes. "Anything. What is it?"
