A Snobbish Father Mocked My Son's Blue-Collar Job, Until My SUV Pulled In
Previously: When arrogant Julian confronted a humble mechanic for loving his daughter, he had no idea the young man's billionaire father was pulling up in the driveway.
The Unmasking of a Titan
Julian scoffed, adjusting his gold-rimmed sunglasses. He assumed Arthur was simply the head mechanic or perhaps a shift manager defending his staff. He didn't recognize the older man, whose face rarely appeared in the tabloid sheets but was revered in the highest circles of global commerce.
"Your son?"
Julian laughed, a harsh, grating sound.
"Then you should have taught him his place. My daughter, Chloe, is destined for greatness, not a life of scraping grease from under luxury cars. I am doing you a favor by keeping him away from my family."
Arthur didn't flinch. Instead, he reached into his breast pocket and pulled out a sleek, matte-black smartphone. He made a single, brief call.
"Marcus, cancel the commercial real estate acquisition for the downtown plaza. Yes, the one with Julian's firm. Pull our funding immediately,"
Arthur said calmly, then hung up.
Julian's smug expression instantly withered. His face drained of color as his own phone began to ring. He answered it with trembling hands, listening to his chief financial officer panic on the other end. The multi-million-dollar merger that was supposed to save Julian's struggling investment firm had just vanished in a heartbeat. The lead investor, the mysterious billionaire patriarch of the Vanguard Group, had backed out.
Julian stared at Arthur, his mouth hanging open.
"You... you are Arthur Vanguard?"
he whispered, the realization hitting him like a physical blow. Arthur was not a mechanic. He was one of the wealthiest men in the state. And the young man in the grease-stained uniform was his sole heir.
Sam stepped forward, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with his father.
"I wanted to build something with my own hands, Julian,"
Sam said, his voice steady and calm.
"I wanted to learn this business from the ground up, without my father's name clearing the path for me. Chloe loved me for who I am, not for my family's bank account."
