Brittany lay groaning in the debris of the shattered drywall, her strawberry-blonde hair covered in plaster. She stared up at her brother in sheer disbelief, never expecting him to return today, let alone defend their grandmother with such fierce force. "That house belongs to us now! I’ve spent the last year taking care of her while you were playing hero overseas. I deserve this property, and she is just standing in the way!"

As he flipped through them, his blood ran cold. Brittany hadn’t just been asking for help; she had drafted a quick-claim deed to transfer the entire family estate into her name, along with bank authorization forms that would grant her access to Margaret’s life savings. She had even forged Margaret’s signature on several preliminary documents, hoping to finalize the theft before Christopher returned.
