Previously: When Luke returned home early from his military deployment, he expected a joyful reunion. Instead, he walked into his backyard to find his wife, Jess, weeping on the ground while her caregiver screamed at her.

The Caregiver's Secrets Unveiled

Megan scrambled to her feet from the grass, dusting off her blue scrubs. Her furious expression quickly morphed into a look of panic as she realized who had just intervened. She tried to smooth down her hair, putting on a fake smile of concern, but her trembling hands gave her away.

"Luke! You're back early," Megan stammered, her voice shaking. "You don't understand. Jess was being difficult. She refused to do her physical therapy and threw herself out of the chair just to get attention. I was only trying to encourage her!"

Luke stood up slowly, keeping one hand firmly on Jess’s shoulder. His blue eyes, usually warm and kind, were now cold as ice. The neighbors watched in breathless silence as the young soldier confronted the woman he had trusted with his wife's life.

"Do you think I'm blind, Megan?" Luke asked, his voice dangerously low. "I heard you screaming from the driveway. I saw you stand over my wife like a bully. Is this how you've been 'caring' for her while I was serving my country?"

Jess, still shaking, finally found the courage to speak. With Luke beside her, the invisible chains of fear that Megan had wrapped around her seemed to shatter. She looked up at her husband, tears streaming down her cheeks.

"She's been stealing my medication, Luke," Jess sobbed. "And she threatened to leave me alone in the house for days if I ever told you. She took the money you sent for my therapy and spent it on herself. I was so scared."

The onlookers gasped. Megan’s face drained of color. She began to back away toward her car, realizing that her lucrative, abusive scheme was crumbling. But Luke was not about to let her escape so easily. He reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone, his finger hovering over the screen.
