Sarah scrambled up from the lawn, her face pale but quickly masking itself with defensive outrage. "Mark! You don't understand!" she stammered, smoothing down her grey scrubs. "She’s being dramatic. She does this on purpose to make me look bad! I do everything for her, and she won't even try to help herself!"

Lily shook her head, clutching Mark’s uniform. "That's not true, Mark. She's been taking the money... she doesn't feed me, she leaves me alone for hours," Lily sobbed, her voice trembling. Neighbors began gathering at the edge of the fence, murmuring in disapproval. Mrs. Gable, an elderly neighbor from next door, called out, "We've seen her, young man! She leaves your wife alone all day and screams at her!"

Sarah’s face flushed with anger. "Mind your own business!" she screamed at the neighbor, before turning back to Mark. "You can't believe them over family, Mark! I've sacrificed my life to look after her!"

But Mark’s expression remained ice-cold. He stood up, shielding Lily behind his broad shoulders. "I didn't just walk in on this today, Sarah," Mark said, his voice dangerously calm. He pulled out his smartphone and opened an app. "Before I deployed, I installed a smart security system around the house, including hidden cameras in the living room and kitchen. I wanted to make sure Lily was safe. I haven't checked them in weeks because of our remote mission... but I just looked."

Sarah froze. The color drained from her face as Mark turned the screen toward her. On it was crystal-clear footage from last week, showing Sarah pocketing Lily’s medication and laughing while Lily struggled to reach a glass of water on the counter. The betrayal was undeniable, and Sarah knew she was caught red-handed.
