The silence in the living room was suffocating. Brandon looked from his weeping wife to his best friend, his chest heaving as he tried to process the ultimate betrayal. "I can explain, Brandon. Please, it's not what you think," Megan pleaded, her voice cracking as she took a tentative step toward him.

Megan turned on Joshua, her face pale.

But Joshua shook his head, looking directly at Brandon.

"She sold your grandfather's vintage gold watch, Brandon. And your joint savings account? It's completely empty. She spent it all while you were gone."
