Marshall calmly pulled out his phone and made a single call. Within ten minutes, two county sheriff cruisers pulled up the long driveway, their red and blue lights reflecting off the grand stone pillars of the estate. Crystal smirked, believing her forged deed would protect her. She rushed to the lead deputy, pointing an accusing finger at Marshall.

"Officer, thank goodness! My brother just assaulted me, and this woman is trespassing on my private property!" Crystal yelled.

But Marshall calmly stepped forward, holding out his own folder of documents that he had retrieved from his truck. He handed them to the deputy. Inside was not only the original power of attorney designating Marshall as Edna's sole executor, but also a signed medical evaluation from Edna's primary physician. The evaluation proved that Edna had been heavily medicated and lacked the cognitive capacity to sign any legal documents on the date Crystal claimed the deed was signed.

The deputy's expression hardened as he reviewed the paperwork. He turned his gaze to Crystal, whose face instantly drained of color. "Ma'am, this is a clear case of deed fraud and elder abuse," the deputy said. Before Crystal could utter another lie, the deputy grabbed her wrists and snapped a pair of cold steel handcuffs around them.

As Crystal was led away to the police car, screaming curses at her family, Marshall knelt beside Edna once more. He took her frail, wrinkled hand in his strong grip and kissed it gently. The nightmare was finally over, and the family estate was safe.

True strength is not found in the power to oppress the weak, but in the courage to stand up and shield them from harm.
