A Soldier Returns Home Just in Time to Save Her Grandmother from a Greedy Relative
Previously: When Chloe returned from her military deployment, she expected a peaceful reunion. Instead, she walked into her grandmother’s house and found a ruthless relative physically assaulting the helpless elderly woman.
The Confrontation Escalates
Greg groaned, clutching his chest as he struggled to sit up on the polished floor. His eyes, initially filled with confusion, narrowed into pure malice when he recognized Chloe. He spat a mouthful of saliva onto the wood and slowly stood up, leaning against the wall for support. "You think you're tough, little girl?" he sneered, his voice shaking with a mix of pain and embarrassment. "This is family business. This old woman owes me. Your grandfather promised me this house before he died, and I’m here to collect what's mine."
Martha sobbed from the floor, clutching Chloe’s leg. "It’s not true, Chloe," she whispered, her voice cracking with emotion. "He brought papers... he wanted me to sign everything over. He said he would throw me on the street." The realization of Greg's cruelty hit Chloe like a physical blow. Greg had always been a parasite, but this was a new low. He was trying to swindle an elderly widow out of her only sanctuary.
"I'm calling the police," Greg threatened, pulling out his phone. "You assaulted me. You're going to jail, soldier boy." But Chloe didn't flinch. Instead, a cold smile spread across her face. She reached into her pocket and pulled out a thick manila envelope she had brought with her.
"Go ahead, call them, Greg," Chloe said, her voice deadly calm. "Because while I was overseas, I had a lot of time to look into my grandfather’s estate. I knew you’d try something like this. I hired a forensic accountant, Greg. I know all about the bank accounts you drained, and I have the proof right here that the deed you've been waving around is a complete forgery." Greg’s face instantly drained of color. The phone trembled in his hand as the gravity of his exposed crimes began to set in.
