Previously: When Dr. Clara Evans was cornered by her powerful ex-fiancé in a hospital hallway, she thought it was the end. But a heroic soldier and his loyal dog changed everything.

The Confrontation and the Hidden Truth

Clara clung to Marcus’s camouflage jacket, her heart hammering against her ribs. The shock of seeing him alive and well, let alone saving her life, was overwhelming. Three years ago, Marcus had mysteriously vanished after being dishonorably discharged under a cloud of stolen military medical supplies. She had been forced into the arms of Julian, who promised to protect her career.

Julian scrambled to his feet, wiping blood from his busted lip. His eyes burned with hatred as he recognized the soldier.

“You!”

Julian spat, adjusting his crumpled black business suit.

“You're a disgraced thief, Marcus. You shouldn't even be in this state, let alone my hospital. Security! Get this trash out of here!”

Within seconds, two burly security guards appeared at the end of the hallway. Julian smirked, confident that his money and influence would once again crush his brother.

“Arrest him, and get this crazy woman out of my sight,”

Julian ordered.

But the guards hesitated. Marcus stood his ground, his hand resting calmly on Buster’s harness. He looked at Julian not with anger, but with cold, calculated triumph.

“They aren't going to help you, Julian,”

Marcus said, his voice deadly calm.

“And I was never dishonorably discharged. That was the lie you manufactured to get me out of the way so you could steal Clara's revolutionary heart-valve patent and my share of our father's estate.”

Clara gasped, looking between the two brothers. The pieces of a devastating puzzle were finally falling into place. Julian had framed his own brother to steal everything Marcus loved.

“You have no proof!”

Julian screamed, his composure rapidly slipping as he realized his grip on power was faltering.

“I run this place!”

Marcus reached into his tactical vest and pulled out a small, blinking digital recorder.

“I don't need proof. The federal agents waiting outside do,”

Marcus replied with a grim smile.
