Previously: When Matthew's eight-year-old son accused his fiancée of keeping his sister paralyzed, Matthew thought it was a cruel lie—until he saw the look of pure terror on her face.

A Horrifying Discovery

Lauren quickly tried to regain her composure, her face twisting into a mask of wounded innocence. "Matthew, sweetheart, you can't possibly believe him," she stammered, taking a step toward him. "He's just a child. He's angry because I'm marrying you. He's trying to ruin our family!"

But Lucas was prepared. He reached deep into the pockets of his navy hoodie and pulled out a small, amber prescription bottle along with a folded piece of paper. He thrust them toward his father.

"I found these hidden in her vanity drawer," Lucas sobbed. "She puts these pills in Lily's warm cocoa every night. And this paper is a real medical report from the city hospital. It says Lily's spine fully healed six months ago!"

Matthew snatched the items. He looked at the prescription bottle. It was a heavy-duty pediatric muscle relaxant and nerve-blocker—a medication Lily had never been prescribed by her primary doctor. He unfolded the medical report. It was indeed a genuine assessment showing that Lily’s physical trauma had resolved. She should have been walking months ago.

Matthew dropped to his knees in front of the wheelchair, his heart breaking into a million pieces. He looked into Lily's tear-filled eyes.

"Lily, baby, tell me the truth. Why haven't you tried to walk?"

Lily whimpered, glancing fearfully at Lauren.

"Lauren told me my legs were broken forever," she whispered. "She said if I tried to stand up, I would bleed and die. She made me take the medicine so I wouldn't feel the pain."

The sheer cruelty of the deception hit Matthew like a physical blow. Lauren had been chemically paralyzing his daughter. He stood up, his eyes burning with rage. Lauren saw the look on his face and bolted for the exit.
