Previously: When Richard came home early to find his arrogant fiancée forcing his sweet, silent sister to scrub a spill on her knees, he made a phone call that changed their lives forever.

A Final Reckoning

Evelyn rushed forward, not to comfort her daughter, but to grab Diana’s arm. "Diana, shut your mouth this instant!" she hissed, her voice trembling with genuine terror. She turned to Richard, her eyes wide with desperation. "Richard, please, she didn't mean it. She didn't know. Please don't do this."

Diana stared at her mother in utter shock. "Mother? What are you doing? Why are you begging him?"

Richard stepped forward, placing a protective arm around Lucy's shoulders.

"She didn't know because you chose to hide the truth from her, Evelyn,"
Richard said coldly. "You didn't tell her that your family's real estate firm was bankrupt. You didn't tell her that the only reason you aren't losing your own home is because my company bought out your debt."

The truth hit Diana like a physical blow. She staggered back, looking at her mother, who could only nod in shame. The lavish lifestyle Diana had been flaunting, the expensive gold dress she wore, the high-society attitude—it was all funded by the man she had just pushed to the brink. And the quiet, humble woman she had forced to scrub the floors was the co-owner of the very tech empire that held their entire future in its hands.

"The prenuptial agreement is void," Richard announced, his voice echoing in the grand marble foyer. "The funding for your family's business is canceled. You have one hour to pack your things and leave. If I ever see you near my sister again, I will personally ensure your family's bankruptcy is made public by tomorrow morning."

With tears streaming down her face, Diana realized she had thrown away her entire future for a moment of arrogant cruelty. She and her mother left the estate in silence, defeated and ruined.

Richard turned to Lucy, gently taking the wet rag from her hands and throwing it aside. "No one will ever make you clean up after them again, Lucy," he whispered, hugging her tightly. Lucy finally smiled, knowing that her years of sacrifice had built a bond of love and loyalty that no amount of wealth or malice could ever break.

True wealth is not measured by the gold we wear, but by the loyalty and love we show to those who stood by us when we had nothing.
