A Stepmother Called Cops On Her Stepdaughter, But The K9 Exposed The Truth
Previously: When Sarah called the police on her crying stepdaughter, she expected an arrest. Instead, the police dog sniffed the kitchen floor and pointed to the real culprit.
The K9's Keen Senses
Officer Davis looked from the sobbing little girl to the cold, detached stepmother sitting at the dining table. Something about the scene didn’t sit right with him. Lily looked genuinely terrified, not guilty. He pulled his K9, Buster, back a few inches and patted his side, calming the energetic animal down. The dog stopped barking, though his nostrils continued to flare, catching scents in the air.
"Ma'am, you're absolutely sure the necklace was taken from your bedroom drawer today?" Officer Davis asked, turning his gaze toward Sarah.
"Of course I'm sure!" Sarah snapped, gesturing dismissively toward Lily. "She was the only one upstairs this afternoon. She's always been a troubled child, officer. Just look at her behavior! She threw that plate of food on the floor when I confronted her. She's hiding it, and I want my necklace back!"
Toby nodded eagerly in agreement.
"Yeah, officer. I saw her sneaking out of Mom's room earlier. She's definitely guilty."
Lily shook her head frantically, her small frame shivering.
"I only went upstairs to get my school books! I didn't touch anything!"
Officer Davis sighed and looked down at his partner. Buster was a highly trained tracking dog, capable of finding specific scents and hidden metallic items.
"Buster, search,"Davis commanded softly, releasing some slack on the leash. The German Shepherd immediately put his nose to the ground. He sniffed around the spilled spaghetti, ignoring the food entirely, and then began to circle the kitchen. But instead of lingering near Lily or her backpack on the floor, Buster's ears perked up. He turned his head slowly toward the dining table where Sarah and Toby were sitting. The dog let out a sharp, low growl and began walking directly toward them, his tail stiff and his eyes locked onto Toby's heavy winter jacket.
