The afternoon sun cast a warm, golden glow over the elegant outdoor patio of the boutique hotel restaurant. White linen tablecloths fluttered gently in the breeze, and the soft clink of crystal glasses filled the air. To any outsider, Thomas and Victoria looked like the picture of upper-class happiness. Thomas, dressed in a tailored beige linen blazer, leaned back in his chair, smiling at his beautiful wife. Victoria, stunning in a teal dress, radiated sophistication. From the edge of the patio, Thomas’s eight-year-old son, Leo, marched forward. His face was pale with anger, his eyes fixed on his stepmother. Behind him, haltingly, came his twin sister, Lily, balancing precariously on her crutches. Before Thomas could ask what they were doing there, Leo pointed a trembling finger at Victoria.
