Previously: When Lorna refused to feed her young stepson, Leo, she never expected her husband to walk in with a DNA test that would shatter her comfortable life forever.

The Truth Unleashed

For a long, agonizing moment, the only sound in the kitchen was the ticking of the wall clock. Lorna stammered, her voice trembling as she tried to regain her composure.

"Mark, what on earth are you talking about? That’s a sick joke. Of course they are yours!"
she laughed nervously, reaching out to touch his arm, but he flinched away from her touch as if she were poison.

Mark threw the manila envelope onto the grease-splattered counter. It slid right into the platter of pancakes, but neither of them cared.

"I had them tested, Lorna. All three of them,"
Mark said, his voice trembling with a mixture of heartbreak and rage.
"I suspected something was wrong when your ex-husband kept showing up around our neighborhood. So I took the DNA swabs last week. The results came back this morning. Zero percent probability of paternity. For all three."

Lorna sank against the refrigerator, her hand covering her mouth. The web of lies she had carefully spun for over a decade was unraveling in seconds. She had cheated on Mark since before they even married, using his high-paying corporate job to fund a luxurious lifestyle for herself and the children she shared with her secret lover.

Mark turned to his son, his expression instantly softening.

"Leo, go pack your bags, buddy. We’re going to stay at Grandma’s for a bit. Go on,"
he urged gently. Leo didn't need to be told twice. He wiped his tears and ran upstairs, a spark of hope finally igniting in his chest.

Once Leo was out of earshot, Mark turned back to Lorna, his eyes cold as ice.

"This house is in my name, and it was bought with my inheritance before we married. You have exactly twenty-four hours to pack your things and get your kids out of here. I am filing for divorce, and I will not pay a single cent of child support for children that aren't mine."
