Previously: A greedy trustee tries to sell a fake daughter to billionaires, but a quiet girl with a steel brace and a hidden ruby latch shatters the scheme—and reclaims her true family.

The Hidden Ledger That Could Destroy the Thorne Empire

The police took Mrs. Vance-Gable away in handcuffs, her pearls snapping as she struggled. But the real storm was just beginning. In the back of the limousine, Lily sat between her parents, still clutching the pocket watch. She didn't cry; she had learned long ago that tears didn't change anything.

"What else, sweetheart?" Genevieve asked, stroking the child's cheek. "What did she take?"

Lily opened the locket again and pulled out a tiny key, no bigger than her thumb. "The house on Thornwood Lane," she said. "She made me sign something when I was sick. She said it was for medicine."

Nathaniel's jaw tightened. Thornwood Lane was the original family estate—the one his father had left in trust for his first grandchild. The one that had been "sold" six years ago, right after Lily's disappearance.

"We need to go there now," he told the driver.

An hour later, the car pulled up to the wrought-iron gates of Thornwood Manor. The house stood empty, its windows dark, but Lily knew every corner. She led her parents through the back door, past the kitchen where she had hidden from Mrs. Gable's rages, and into the study.

"The safe is behind the painting," she said, pointing to a portrait of Nathaniel's mother.

Genevieve pulled the painting aside, revealing a steel safe. The tiny key fit perfectly. Inside, they found not just the deed to the estate, but a stack of files—hospital records, birth certificates, and a falsified ledger that showed payments to a private clinic in Switzerland.

"She was selling children," Genevieve whispered, her voice breaking. "She stole babies and sold them to the highest bidder."

Nathaniel's hands shook as he read the files. There were six other children listed, all with adoption papers signed by Mrs. Vance-Gable. All with matching hospital tags.

"We need to call the authorities," he said, reaching for his phone. But Lily grabbed his arm.

"Wait," she said. "There's one more thing. She kept a video. On her phone."

Lily pulled out a burner phone from her pocket—the one Mrs. Gable had used to film her "clients." The screen lit up, showing the trustee's smiling face as she handed over a baby to a stranger. The date was six years ago. The baby had a small birthmark on her wrist, just like Lily's.

Genevieve sobbed, pulling Lily into her arms. "We have to find them all."

But as they turned to leave, a shadow moved at the end of the hallway. A man in a dark suit stepped out, holding a gun.

"I don't think so," he said. "You're going to give me that phone, or the girl dies."
