Trembling, Clara led Leo away from the open casket and into the quiet privacy of the chapel's side office. She offered him a small cup of water, which he drank eagerly. As she watched him, she couldn't help but notice a striking resemblance. Leo had the same deep blue eyes and stubborn chin as her late husband, Richard. It was a resemblance she could not deny, no matter how much it pained her.

Clara sat opposite the boy, trying to keep her voice steady. "Leo, how do you know Richard?" she asked gently, bracing herself for the answer.

"He was my dad," Leo replied simply, his voice cracking. "He came to visit me and my mom every week. But Mom got very sick last month, and then she went to heaven. Dad told me he was going to bring me to live with him soon, but then he got sick too."
