Previously: When a humble mechanic knelt to wash paralyzed Sophia's feet, he noticed a tiny detail her wealthy father had spent millions trying to hide from everyone.

A Sudden Panic

Mason stood up slowly, wiping his wet hands on a rag from his back pocket. He pointed to Sophia's leg, where a faint pink flush of color was returning to her skin. "If she were truly paralyzed from spinal nerve damage, she wouldn't have felt that localized pressure," Mason explained, his gaze locked onto Richard. "Her muscles are severely atrophied, yes, but the neural pathways are active. Something else is blocking her motor functions. Something chemical."

Richard’s demeanor shifted instantly from concerned father to hostile adversary. His eyes darter around nervously, and he pointed an angry finger at the driveway exit.

"Get off my property!" Richard shouted, his voice echoing through the quiet cul-de-sac. "You're a mechanic, not a doctor! How dare you give my daughter false hope with your pseudoscientific garbage!"

But Sophia wasn't listening to her father's anger; she was watching his face. For three years, Richard had personally administered her daily medication—a custom liquid supplement he claimed was imported from a Swiss nerve clinic to manage her pain. He never let the nurses touch it, and he always kept the bottle locked in his home office desk.

"Dad, why are you so angry?" Sophia asked, her voice shaking as a terrible, dark suspicion began to take root in her mind. "Mason is just trying to understand."
"He is an intruder, Sophia!" Richard snapped, refusing to look her in the eyes. "Go inside. Now."

Mason didn't budge. He had spent two years in medical school before family tragedy forced him to drop out and run his father's garage, and he knew a neuro-blocker reaction when he saw one. He looked at Sophia. "What pills or supplements has he been giving you?" he asked quietly. Richard lunged forward, grabbing Mason's collar, but Sophia screamed. "Stop! Mason, please, help me. The red bottle in his study. He gives it to me every single night."

He gives it to me every single night."
