A Terrified Teen Cornered in the Snow Uncovers His Uncle’s Darkest Secret
The biting winter wind howled through the narrow, snow-covered alleyways of the city. Sophie pulled her teal winter jacket tighter around her shivering frame, her eyes scanning the dark corners in a panic. She could hear the heavy thud of work boots crushing the fresh snow just a block away.
"Liam!" she whispered, her voice cracking in the freezing air. Suddenly, her foot caught on an invisible patch of black ice. With a sharp gasp, she slipped, crashing hard onto the concrete sidewalk. Before she could recover, a white pickup truck screeched to a halt at the mouth of the alley. A man leaned out, pointing directly at her, and shouted, "Hey! No! Don't let her get away!"
Further down the alley, Mike led his squad. Dressed in a rugged grey work jacket and a black beanie, his face was a mask of cold determination. He was a man who didn't tolerate defiance, especially not from family. "Spread out!" he barked to his tough crew. "He couldn't have gone far."
Pressed against a freezing red brick wall, fifteen-year-old Liam felt his heart hammering against his ribs. He wore his navy varsity jacket, but it offered no warmth against the sheer terror paralyzing his body. "No, no, please," he whispered, tears freezing on his cheeks as he squeezed his eyes shut.
One of Mike's men rounded the corner, his eyes locking onto the blonde teenager. "He's over here!" the man called out, raising a gloved hand. Mike's voice echoed through the narrow passage, sharp and commanding: "Keep moving. Don't let him slip away." Liam opened his eyes, staring directly into the dark, unforgiving gaze of his pursuers. He was completely cornered.
